Blue and Gold dual
On Friday the 21st we held our first inter- squad dual. First of all I would like to thank all of those who attended. The turn out for our first go at this was awesome. We ended up having 20 terrific matches. The kids all wrestled really hard and looked great for only having three practices behind them. We are planning on doing this every Friday. There are still some details to work out but we will inform you of changes along the way. This is a great way for the kids to get some extra mat time and experience.
President and Parent
meetings
Another new thing that I want to incorporate into practice this year is a weekly meeting between myself and all the parents of our wrestlers. These meetings will be held on Mondays at the beginning of practice. Participation in the meetings is encouraged as this is your club as well. We all need to work together to make this an enjoyable and rewarding experience for the kids. At this meeting I will relate to the parents upcoming events, any schedule changes, and any other club news. I ask for and expect to hear questions and concerns.
Tournaments
This week there is a tournament in Buffalo. It is on Sunday and I do understand this could be difficult for some of you to make it. However there are some people that are planning on going so if you are interested get ahold of Matt, Jareb, Nancy or myself for further details. Febuary 6th there is a tournament scheduled in Douglas. Since this is a close tournament I would like to see a lot of blue and gold in that gym. Flyers will be available for upcoming tournaments at practice and online at wawawrestling.com.
Shirts, shorts, and
equipment
Our team shirts are expected to be in this week and will be handed out at practice Tuesday or Thursday. Also this year the club will be supplying shorts for all wrestlers. As of today I’m not sure when they will arrive. For tournaments all wrestlers are required to wear singlets and headgear during their match. The club does have some that can be borrowed. I am working with Amazing Monogramming to get an order form made for team apparel, which I will hand out as soon as we have them.
